Get ready to get bluesy with the Tampa Bay Blues Festival. Some of the biggest names in the industry will be coming to Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg for 3 days from April 12 through April 14. If you’re unfamiliar with the genre, it has a variety of styles which includes the soulful music you may think of when you hear the word "blues" all the way to more rock-based roots. The lineup this year is a good representation of the variety blues can include.
The headliner for Friday, April 12, is Jonny Lang. Lang has had 5 albums that have charted on the top 50 of the Billboard 200 and is known for his gospel and rock roots. On the other hand, the headliner for Saturday, April 13, is Boz Scaggs who is known for blue-eyed soul. One of his most popular songs is “Lowdown” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. To close the festival out, Tab Benoit will take the stage Sunday, April 14. He is most well-known for playing Delta blues which primarily features guitar and harmonica.

2019 marks a very special year for the Tampa Blues Festival as they celebrate their 25th anniversary of running this popular event. Since 1995 the festival has presented over 250 of the world’s greatest blues performers. Some of their past performers include Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Robert Cray. Vinoy Park makes for the perfect tropical setting to enjoy scenic views of Tampa Bay while enjoying the spring weather and premier blues performers. Another cool part of the festival is that proceeds from the event benefit their charity partner.
