2018 Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival
Like the feeling of sand between your toes, or giant carefully sculpted masterpieces? If so, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival is the event for you!
The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival is 10 days of jam-packed activities for the whole family on beautiful Clearwater Beach. Parents can sit back on the beach and enjoy the day as their children play in the giant sugar sand sandbox, or watch lots of street performers do their thing. All events are free but the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit, a 21,000 square-foot tent filled with sand-sculpted art crafted by world-class sculptors, for which tickets are $10.
Wanna try your luck? Register for the cornhole tournament for a chance to win up to $500! Rather relax with a drink and listen to music? They have that too! You can grab a drink at the sand bar and listen to the free live music that will be provided both weekends, with bands such as Soul Circus Cowboys, The Black Honkeys, and Chris McCarty. Movies on the beach will also be occurring both weekends at dusk, and afterward be sure to stay for the fireworks show (on Saturday and Sunday) at 9 p.m.
The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival will be hosting free sand sculpting classes throughout the week, where you can test your sand castle building skills and create your own masterpiece. On both weekends, be amazed as you watch the pros compete against each other in the speed sand demonstrations. The master sand sculpting competition will begin on Saturday, April 14th. This event will give you the opportunity to watch seven master sculptors in action, each creating beautiful masterpieces and competing to win your vote. Bring your spare change because the artist who collects the most money wins the competition! All of the proceeds collected will be donated to Sandy Lane Elementary School in Clearwater, mixing philanthropy with entertainment!
Be sure to buy tickets for the main event, the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit. Eleven of the biggest and boldest sand castle creations will be housed under a giant 21,000 sq. ft. tent! This year each artist will be following the SEA America theme, a celebration of America's treasures.
