Our 2018 5th Annual Pipe Band March through the streets of downtown Dunedin was held on National Tartan Day! It was fantastic! We will have another chance in 2019 for an amazing parade.
Event Details
Ten Pipe Bands were featured in this parade that was led by Dunedin Fire Department’s Honor Guard. Bands participating: Atlanta Pipe Band, Jacksonville Pipes & Drums, Pipes & Drums of Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and McMillan Pipe Band marched, along with five of Dunedin’s favorites, The Dunedin Highland Middle School, Dunedin Scottish Highlanders High School, and the City of Dunedin’s Grade 2, 4 and 5 bands.
Classic cars like a ’64 Buick, ’66 Chevy Impala, ’71 Old Cutlass, “57 Cadillac Convertible, ’67 Pontiac LeMans and more carried our dignitaries in style. Chieftain Pat Snair, Bonnie Lass & Lad, Scottish American Society President Diane Burke, City Commission Liaison Heather Gracy and her comrades: Mayor Julie Ward-Bujalski, Vice Mayor John Tonga, and Commissioners Moe Freaney and Deborah Kynes, Stuart Liddell of the Inverary & District Pipe Band in Scotland, and our President Alan McHale.
Scottish Clans Hay, Montgomery, Graham, Guthrie, Wood, Donald, Farquharson, Keith, MacCallum-Malcolm, and the New World Celts-Dunedin and International, Scottish American Society of Dunedin also marched with their colorful tartans.
