Baywalk Renovation to Include Three 'Iconic Chef' Restaurants

Published By Andrew Silverstein on 16 Mar 2012

Last September, St. Petersburg millionaire and mortgage mogul, Bill Edwards purchased the declining Baywalk complex in Downtown St. Petersburg for $5.2 million with plans to bring the dwindling shopping and dining epicenter back to life.

Now, Edwards is making some big plans for the Baywalk complex including dropping the Baywalk name, totally demolishing the front of the complex and now, hopefully getting three 'iconic chefs' to bring their restaurants to the new, unnamed complex.

Edwards made this announcement in front of the St. Petersburg City council, but was pretty tight-lipped when it came to more details.  He mentioned that he did not want to compete with Beach Drive businesses and other ones in Downtown St. Pete.

Right now, Edwards is working on permits for demolition at Baywalk and expects a grand opening of the new complex in 12 to 13 months.

So, which iconic chef would you like to see serving up their signature cuisine in the new Baywalk Complex?  Emeril?  Mario Batali?  Bobby Flay? Wolfgang Puck?  Let us know in the comments below!
