If you’ve driven around Downtown St. Petersburg, you’ve noticed new murals and international artists diligently expressing their creativity and showcasing their talent. The Shine Mural Festival culminated Saturday, October 14 at the Morean Arts Center, but you can enjoy the new murals around St. Petersburg and Pinellas County every day of the year. Not sure where to find all of the murals? Here's a map you can refer to when you bike or walk the Shine Mural Festival.
Hats off to John Collins, St. Petersburg Arts Alliance Director and resident genius, and his fantastic team as well as the City of St. Petersburg and Mayor Kriseman for making this artistic endeavor a must-see local and tourist destination.
SHINE is an art project that illuminates the power of art in public spaces by revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue, and uniting our community while cultivating new standards of artistic excellence and reflecting St. Petersburg’s creative and vibrant spirit. International artists from Spain and Germany, local legends like The Vitale Brothers, and some of the most interesting American muralists have been painting up a storm since October 6.
From Atlanta-based artist Angela Faustina's ripe juicy fruits capturing the beauty of life to DAAS, a Florida-artist based in Japan with a distinct geometric style using lines and angles that echo origami folds, these bold designs mesmerize and transform the city. In its fourth year, The Shine Mural Festival kicks off fall with a dazzling array of colors and styles both tantalizing and memorable.
