When you dine at a Renaissance Hotel, you can expect one thing: the unexpected.
Gourmands and discerning oenophiles alike are pleasantly and repeatedly surprised by the offerings at these destinations, and one such event is the Navigators Table. This Renaissance Hotels initiative features an exclusive dinner at all 160 hotels around the world, all happening next week. While each dinner features delicious menus paired with impeccable wines, each event is unique in theme and presentation.
In our area, those lucky enough to snag tickets to the event at the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club will enjoy “In the Making” at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 when they take one of the 15 seats around a u-shaped interactive kitchen and watch Chef Matthew Brennan and his team prepare a meal. It’s food and entertainment—as you watch the Chef perform his magic, you sample the local specialties as they are placed in front of you one after the other. If you have any questions about technique, ingredients or the origins of the dishes, this is the perfect time to ask.
Across the Bay at the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel’s inaugural Navigator's Table, local Tampa seafood will take center stage. Just 10 diners got to gather poolside Monday for drinks and hand-crafted appetizers, including Hackleback Sturgeon Caviar and Hama Hama Oyster Crudo. From there, they moved on to the hotel’s La Fuente Courtyard, to nibble on Florida Stone Crabs and Diver Scallops, and then on to the outdoor patio (next door to the Pelagia Trattoria) for Pancetta Wrapped Lobster Medallions, Eastern Razor Clams, Seared Deepwater Opah Steak and Porcini-Dusted Bigeye Tuna. The evening concluded with Chef Brett Gardiner’s personal selection of dessert treasures.
