In 2019, becoming a vegetarian is trendy! Ever since films like “What The Health” came out on Netflix people are jumping on the bandwagon and abiding by the rules of a vegetarian diet. So, when you’re in Downtown St. Pete, don’t get tempted by restaurants like Dr. BBQ and Better Byrd, stop by one of these delicious eateries to help you stick to your plant-based diet.
Love Food Central
This health-focused cafe serves up tasty meals for both vegans and vegetarians in a casual eatery located on Central Ave in DTSP. Something they pride themselves on is their ability to create comfort food without any meat or animal products. Their cheese plate and avocado toast make the St. Pete locals go crazy whether they’re meat eaters or not!
The Cider Press Cafe
At the Cider Press Cafe, they take pride in making vegetarian dishes so good, you won’t miss the meat! The chefs are looking to change the common perception that vegan and vegetarian food is cold and bland. They create delicious and approachable vegan cuisine that even your carnivore friends will enjoy. Their “Kale-lemon Me Softly Burger” even scored in the top ten for the National James Beard Burger contest!
Noble Crust
Though carnivores and meat-eaters can also enjoy a delicious meal at Noble Crust, they have a reputation for serving up some delicious vegetarian and vegan meals as well. With more than 10 vegetarian dishes on the menu, it’s a great place to take a group of friends when one of you is a vegetarian. Some of their vegetarian dishes include: The Crispy Broccoli, House Salad, Kale Caesar, Peach & Burrata Salad, Kale and Avo Flatbread, and Roasted Mushroom Flatbread.

Fresh Kitchen
Ah, Fresh Kitchen! It was probably one of the first health-conscious eateries you tried in Tampa Bay. Though you can order any bowl with hormone and antibiotic-free meat, you can also order some really delicious meals with no meat at all. Fill your bowl with 2 bases and 2 veggies instead of selecting a protein. Or try their chilled Caprese tofu with your bowl to fill it out! My favorite vegetarian bowl to get is filled with two scoops of spinach salad, sesame green beans, roasted sweet potatoes and topped with toasted almonds and herb balsamic vinaigrette!
Old Earth Pure Organic Food
Old Earth is a family-owned establishment that opened in 2014 with the intention to provide pure, minimally-processed, whole food products to the locals of St. Pete. They got their name from their purpose, to provide locals with the option to eat as they did before foods were processed beyond belief. Owners Hyneck and Brooke fell in love through their mutual love of healthy eating, so they figured it was only right to bring it to the people. They serve up salads, flatbreads, wraps, zughetti dishes and even some really kick-ass desserts. Stop by to taste what mother nature meant our food to taste like!
