Following a spectacular victory against the Minnesota Stars to win the 2012 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship, the Tampa Bay Rowdies have unveiled a new logo to commemorate their victory and kick off their 2013 season.
The new logo adds a second star to the Rowdies' previous logo to commemorate their new, championship victory in addition to their first, which took place all the way back in 1975 when the Tampa Bay soccer team defeated the Portland Timbers.
An entirely new line of Rowdies merchandise and apparel will be unveiled soon, presumably before the Tampa Bay Rowdies kick off their 2013 season against the Carolina RailHawks at St Petersburg's Progress Energy Park on Saturday, April 6.
During the offseason following the Rowdies championship victory, the soccer club and the city of St. Petersburg have been also been working on improvements to Progress Energy Park that will enhance the gameday experience for fans. Improvements include a realignment of the playing field for better views during the 2013 season and more.
Another feature of the Rowdies' 2013 season includes two I-4 Derby preseason games against the Orlando City Soccer Club. The first will be a friendly game at Orlando's Citrus Bowl on Saturday, March 9. The next will place on Saturday, March 9 at Progress Energy Park in St. Pete.
